Differences between PERT AL PERT and PERT EVOH pipes
Differences between PERT pipes
Various types of pipes are used in underfloor heating. Two of the most popular types of 16mm diameter polyethylene pipes can be classified as follows:
- PERT/AL/PERT pipes;
- PERT/EVOH/PERT pipes.
These are multilayer pipes that differ from each other in terms of their inner filling. Al – aluminium; Evoh – ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer.
Thanks to such insulation, oxygen does not penetrate into the water filling the pipes. The absence of such protection would cause bacteria to enter the installation, thereby shortening its efficiency.
PERT-AL-PERT pipe:
- universal, suitable for heating homes and distributing water;
- operating parameters: 95 degrees Celsius and 10 bar;
- hygienic certificates;
- does not have shape memory, so it will not return to its previous shape after bending (due to the presence of aluminium);
- easily bends into curves, making it more convenient for installers to mount;
- due to the aluminium insert, it is sensitive to temperatures – it is more difficult to lay in winter due to hardening. It can also break when bent into a curve. It requires more skill when laying;
- the aluminium insert makes it more expensive than EVOH pipes.

PERT-EVOH pipe:
- suitable only for underfloor heating;
- operating temperature: 70 degrees Celsius and 6 bar;
- no hygienic certificates;
- has shape memory, so it will return to its previous shape after bending;
- lays well at low temperatures;
- is about 20% cheaper than AL pipes.
200m Pert EVOH 16mm Pipe – The Underfloor Heating Expert
Underfloor heating is a low-temperature system, so it is more advantageous to use PERT/EVOH/PERT pipes.
Especially since in large houses, sometimes over a kilometre of pipes are used to install underfloor heating.
These pipes are sold in coils from 50 meters to 300 meters and are available in our store Pipes Archives – The Underfloor Heating Expert
